This blog was inspired by my experiences as a mom to 3 girls and as an Emergency Medicine physician ("ER doctor ") for the past 14+ years. I have been winging it as a mom since 2014, and have learned a lot along the way:) I often times get asked advice from parents: expecting, new, and seasoned. I want to share personal stories, safety tips for parents/caregivers, and some frequently asked questions from friends, neighbors, family and co-workers.
A little background: I grew up in Kansas City where I went to medical school (UMKC Six-Year program), completed my Emergency Medicine residency training in Detroit region, and then moved to Chicago. I spent 12 amazing years at Loyola University Medical Center as an attending physician and Associate Professor. In 2023, we made the decision to move our family to Utah to be closer to family and to enjoy the adventurous lifestyle it has to offer. I love spending time in nature and generally being active, which is the lifestyle and upbringing I want for our children. I work as an Emergency Medicine physician at a busy level I trauma center and affiliate community hospitals and own a lifestyle medicine concierge "micropractice" called The Bougie Bee MD. I have additional board-certification in Obesity Medicine, Anti-Aging/Longevity Medicine, and Menopause care (MSCP).
As a visitor here, you are helping me transform my ideas into reality. I genuinely enjoy "talking shop" as a mom and doctor. As a disclaimer, this is purely a hobby. My views are my own and not of my employer. You are welcome to ask questions but I cannot legally provide medical advice. I love suggestions -- what do you want to learn more about?
